Snuggled in the thick serene fold of the Garhwal Himalayas, Mussoorie allures with its timeless charm—a place where every corner whispers tales of calmness and breathtaking beauty. My journey to this hill station unfolded like pages from a idolised novel, each moment carved with the merging of awe and wonder.

As I mounted the roads that led to Mussoorie, the mountains gradually lay open themselves, painting a canvas of beautiful green and deep blue sky. The air so fresh with the scent of nature, infused me with a sense of exploration that awaited beyond every mile I crossed.

Mussorie Mall Road

Mall Road- The major attraction of Mussoorie, has a lively atmosphere surrounded by tourists and locals making the spot more charming. Mall Road was built by the British residents and is dotted with benches and lampposts lined up at the sides of the road. Amid old-fashioned shops decked up with local handicrafts, cozy cafes, and small stalls offering steaming cups of chai and other eatables, I felt swaddled in a nostalgic embrace, as if I was taken to an era where time moved at a slow and effortless pace.

Gun Hill

One of the highlights of my journey was the clamber to Gun Hill, where the panoramic view of mountain peaks capped with snow and the stretched-out Doon Valley took my breath away. Standing there, amid the cold wind striking my face and the glory of nature, I felt an overpowering connection—an affirmation of the beauty that exists beyond the imagination.

Kempty Falls

Situated at an approximate distance of 15 kilometers from Mall Road, Kempty Falls is one of the most prominent waterfalls in Uttarakhand. Flowing from a great height, this waterfall created a natural pool below it. Kempty falls is one the oldest tourist spot which was discovered by the Britishers.

As I was approaching, the sound of water grew louder, pulling me closer to its majestic beauty. I stood by the edge of the pool I found myself entwined in the cool embrace of the falls, feeling refreshed by its refreshing spray. Surrounded by lush greenery and the laughter of fellow travelers, Kempty Falls became a place where nature’s beauty and tranquility captivate the soul.

Camel’s Back Road

The Camel’s Back Road runs parallel to Mall Road but provides a different experience. The road is less explored by tourists and has fewer shops, typically only 2-3 Maggi points along the way. However, at the midpoint, there’s a viewing point perfect for photographs. This road is named as Camel Back Road due to the natural rocks shaped like a camel.

Company Garden

Company Garden, a major picnic location in Mussoorie also known as Municipal Garden, located at a distance of 3 km from Mall road, was established by the British in the early 20th century. It was initially developed as a pleasant space for British officials who came to Mussoorie to enjoy the embrace of nature.

Company Garden in Mussoorie is a sanctuary of blooming flowers, tidied lawns, and beautiful pathways. Walking amid vibrant blooms, I found comfort in its peaceful aura. Boating on the tranquil lake and enjoying local snacks made it a pleasant retreat.

Cloud’s End

Clouds End is known for pleasant scenic views of hills with an enjoyable climate. Located at a distance of around 7 kilometers from Mussoorie. Surrounded by thick oak and deodar forests, it tracks 2 km up to the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary offering a beautiful walking track. Cloud’s End is most famous for the breathtaking views it offers, mainly of the Aglar River Valley.

Cloud’s End in Mussoorie is a peaceful escape into nature’s embrace. Walking through whispering forests and soothing wind trails, I felt soaked in the calm. The panoramic views of the Himalayas and the clouds as if you can touch them, left an unfadable mark, making it a perfect retreat for soulful reflection.

Bhatta Falls

Bhatta Falls is a famous picnic spot, situated at a distance of about 11 km (approx.) from the Mussoorie Library Bus Stand. One can enjoy the panoramic view of the village through the ropeway which gives an experience to remember. The ropeway connects Bhatta Village to the beautiful Bhatta Fall. The updown ride to bhatta falls by ropeway will cost INR150/person.

Mussoorie Lake

Located on the Dehradun-Mussoorie Road, this charming lake is a delightful spot for picnic and boating, offering a scenic view of Doon Valley and nearby villages. A natural waterfall forms it, visitors can enjoy paddle boating here while relishing the scenic surroundings, which include lush greenery and the beautiful backdrop of the hills.

Mussoorie is where every corner seems to hold a story waiting to be told. Whether it was the vibrant shades of Company Garden or the unfrequented paths leading to Camel’s Back Road, each location left a longing to explore deeper into the essence of this captivating hill station.
